There is no single daily movement number that fits every pregnancy. If movements slow down, stop or change from what is usual for your baby, contact your maternity team immediately rather than waiting for tomorrow or an app result.

## Make the contact route easy to find

Save the number for your maternity service and its out-of-hours route. Share it with someone you trust. Before travelling, find out where you can access maternity assessment at your destination so your plan does not depend on being close to your usual hospital.

## What can you say on the call?

You might start with: “I am … weeks pregnant. Today I noticed …, which is different from my baby’s usual movements.” Mention roughly when you noticed it and any other symptoms. You can call even if you cannot remember every detail; completing a chart is not a requirement for getting help.

## A checklist cannot provide reassurance

A home heartbeat device or phone tool cannot confirm that your baby is well. An earlier reassuring assessment does not make a new change irrelevant. Contact your team again if you notice another change.

## Write down the agreed next step

Leave three lines for the service you contacted, the time and the instructions you received. Clarify: “Where should I go now, and whom should I ask for?” Notes help communication; they are not an examination or an assessment.
