It is reasonable to seek support for ongoing low mood, strong anxiety, loss of enjoyment or difficulty coping after birth. You do not need to diagnose yourself first. If symptoms are troubling you, talk to a healthcare professional without waiting for a set period to pass.

## Choose an opening sentence

You might say: “I may look fine, but I am struggling to get through ordinary tasks.” Write the sentence on your phone and read it out if that is easier. You do not need a polished explanation or a reason for every feeling; asking for help is enough to begin.

## Bring everyday examples

Note a task that feels difficult, what happens when you have a chance to rest and support you cannot access. For example, “I want to attend an appointment but have nobody to look after the baby” describes a concrete barrier. You can seek help without a detailed diary or an app score.

## Give a trusted person a clear role

You could ask someone you trust to sit with you while you call, arrange transport or take notes at an appointment. Being told “everyone feels that way” does not remove your need for support. Where possible, you decide which details to share and with whom.

## Do not wait when safety is a concern

If you are worried about your own or your baby’s immediate safety, or there is a risk of someone being harmed, seek emergency medical help now. Ask a trusted person to stay with you rather than remaining alone. This website is not a crisis contact service; do not wait for a message reply.
